Kim Delaney Arrested on Felony Assault Charges
Renowned actress Kim Delaney, famous for her performances in NYPD Blue and Army Wives, has reportedly been arrested and charged with felony assault.
Law enforcement officials confirmed that police and paramedics responded to a domestic disturbance at Delaney’s residence in Los Angeles at around 10 a.m. local time. The situation escalated during an argument between Delaney and her partner, James Morgan, leading to violent confrontation, according to sources who spoke with TMZ.
Following medical assessments, Delaney faced felony assault charges with the potential to cause great bodily injury, while Morgan was charged with misdemeanor domestic violence, as reported by TMZ.
Delaney’s history suggests previous encounters with legal issues. In 2002, she accepted a no-contest plea to reckless driving, resulting in two years of probation, a $300 fine, and a mandated safe-driving course, as detailed by Entertainment Weekly. Subsequently, she entered rehab the following year.
In 2024, Delaney was subjected to community service and enrollment in a Mothers Against Drunk Driving program as part of a diversionary agreement following an alleged hit-and-run incident in 2022, according to RadarOnline.com.
Delaney gained prominence through her award-winning portrayal of Detective Diane Russell in ABC’s NYPD Blue, after her initial appearances as Jenny Gardner in the soap opera All My Children.
She later reunited with NYPD Blue producer Steven Bochco for the short-lived series Philly, which aired in 2001, and made notable appearances in the first season of CSI: Miami.
In 2007, Delaney secured a significant role in the Lifetime series Army Wives, portraying Claudia Jay Holden for nearly six seasons. Following this, she had a brief stint on General Hospital and a guest appearance on Chicago Fire. In 2021, she featured in the Lifetime film The Long Island Serial Killer: A Mother’s Hunt for Justice.
In a 2020 interview with TV Insider, Delaney reflected on her diverse fanbase, noting, “It really does run the gamut. There will always be Jenny fans, and it actually is mostly Jenny fans. But I also get Diane from NYPD Blue and Philly! People ask why that show got canceled after only one season!”
