Jack Brewer and Riley Gaines Rally for Gender Sports Legislation in Minnesota
Jack Brewer, a former University of Minnesota football player and Minnesota Vikings member, is set to join conservative activist Riley Gaines at a rally in Minnesota on Monday. The focus of this event is to advocate for the “Preserving Girls’ Sports Act,” a proposed bill aimed at prohibiting transgender athletes from competing in women’s sports.
The bill recently garnered approval from the state’s House Education Policy Committee on February 20 and is scheduled for a vote in the House of Representatives. Should it pass, it will subsequently be presented to Governor Tim Walz, who is anticipated to veto it given his strong commitment to supporting transgender rights.
Brewer, who founded the Jack Brewer Foundation, expressed his disapproval of Walz’s viewpoints, labeling them as “disgusting,” particularly in light of the governor’s background as a former high school football coach. He articulated his concerns about Walz’s appeal—or lack thereof—to traditional masculinity in sports.

During his remarks, Brewer criticized Walz’s approach, stating, “When you see him and you see his mannerisms and the way he carries himself, you know this guy doesn’t appeal to real men and boys who have battled it out on the gridiron.” He further asserted that Walz represents a disappointing figure in the football community.
Adding to the controversy, in April 2023, Walz enacted the “Trans Refuge” bill, which extends protections for those seeking or providing gender-affirming care within Minnesota. The state has also drawn scrutiny from the U.S. Department of Education for allegedly resisting a federal directive aimed at prohibiting transgender participation in women’s sports.
HOW TRANSGENDERISM IN SPORTS SHIFTED THE 2024 ELECTION AND IGNITED A NATIONAL COUNTERCULTURE
Governor Walz’s daughter, Hope Walz, recently gained online notoriety for her TikTok videos advocating for transgender athletes and opposing Donald Trump’s executive order related to gender in sports.
Brewer has expressed a desire to engage the governor in dialogue on this matter. He stated his willingness to meet with Walz if invited, suggesting that he believes the governor may harbor private doubts about his public stance.
“I think deep down in his heart he knows it’s wrong,” Brewer claimed. “I believe he is catering to a far-left liberal base and is motivated by the significant financial backing from LGBTQ organizations in Minnesota.” He indicated that these financial interests play a crucial role in shaping policy decisions.
As for the outcome of the bill, Brewer remains skeptical about Walz’s potential to sign it into law, remarking, “You know he’s not going to do it because it’s just who he has continued to be. I pray that he has a change of heart, but I’m sure if he does sign it, it will just be because the money train has ended.”
Gaines echoed Brewer’s sentiments, cautioning that she, too, does not anticipate that Walz will approve the legislation. “I’m fairly certain Gov. Walz would veto this bill,” she noted. “However, it’s vital for us to have our representatives on the record about where they stand; do they support women or not?”
The office of Governor Walz did not provide comments prior to publication regarding the upcoming vote or the planned rally.
