France Clinches 2025 Six Nations Title with Victory Over Scotland
Les Bleus Celebrate Their First Championship Win Since 2022
Last Updated: 15/03/25 10:11pm
France secured the 2025 Six Nations championship by defeating Scotland 35-16 in a decisive match held in Paris. This victory marks France’s return to the pinnacle of European rugby for the first time since 2022.
With the stakes high, France needed a win to claim the title, particularly as England had already recorded an impressive victory in Cardiff earlier that day, leaving the championship race open until the final whistle.
The match was a thrilling affair, with Scotland initially posing a significant challenge. However, France demonstrated remarkable strength and resilience, ultimately overpowering Scotland’s spirited performance.
France’s scoring came through tries from Yoram Moefana (2), Louis Bielle-Biarrey, and Thomas Ramos, who also contributed three conversions and three penalties. Scotland’s points stemmed from a try by Duhan van der Merwe, along with three penalties and a conversion from Finn Russell.
At halftime, France led narrowly at 16-13, thanks to Moefana’s try. The French team could have found themselves in a precarious position had Tom Jordan’s disallowed try been permitted or if Peato Mauvaka had seen a red card for a headbutt on Ben White. However, they capitalized on their good fortune and surged ahead in the second half, scoring three unanswered tries.
Bielle-Biarrey’s additional try marked his eighth in this Six Nations season, tying the tournament record and highlighting his exceptional year. The final tries from Ramos and Moefana solidified the win, turning the Stade de France into a jubilant celebration.
