Frank Lloyd Wright’s historic residence at New York’s illustrious Plaza Hotel is currently available for purchase at a staggering price of $18.9 million, as reported by Robb Report. This fourth-floor corner suite served as Wright’s home from 1954 until his passing in 1959. During that time, he was focused on his final significant project, the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum. The suite, which offers stunning views of Central Park, was furnished with elegant black lacquer pieces and became a social hub for prominent figures such as Georgia O’Keeffe, Marilyn Monroe, and Arthur Miller.
In 2009, the suite was acquired by Galerie magazine founder Lisa Cohen and her husband James Cohen, who heads Hudson Capital Properties, for $13 million. They enlisted the expertise of Louis Lisboa from VL Architects and interior designer Susanna Maggard to undertake a complete renovation. By 2014, the revamped Art Deco-inspired interiors garnered attention in Architectural Digest. Lisa Cohen expressed her desire to create an inviting space for guests akin to those they had enjoyed during their extensive travels for her husband’s business. This ambitious renovation transformed the original one-bedroom layout into a spacious four-bedroom, four-bathroom home, complete with an enlarged living area. The Cohens initially listed the property in 2016 for $26 million but removed it from the market later that year.
The suite features a galley kitchen, perfectly blending functionality with style.
The living area boasts an elegant design, reflecting both historical significance and modern luxury.
