Train Collides with Semi-Trailer in Sleepy Eye, Minnesota
A serious incident occurred on Friday, April 4, when a semi-trailer truck was struck by a train while crossing the tracks adjacent to Highway 14 in Sleepy Eye, Minnesota.
Footage released by the Brown County Sheriff’s Office captures the moment when 24-year-old Robert Thomas Jewett, operating the truck, turned into the Christensen Farms Feed Mill. As the trailer proceeded over the tracks, a train from Canadian Pacific Kansas City Railroad collided with it, resulting in significant destruction.
The Brown County Sheriff’s Office reported that both the truck’s occupants and the train crew received medical attention at the scene for minor injuries, highlighting the luck involved in what could have been a far more severe situation.
According to the sheriff’s office, the vehicles sustained notable damage, particularly the Wilson grain trailer, which was declared a total loss. The incident underscores the dangers that can arise when vehicles traverse rail crossings without adequate caution.
