Gabby Windey and Robby Hoffman Secretly Marry After Wildfire Evacuation
Reality TV star Gabby Windey and comedian Robby Hoffman have exchanged vows in a private ceremony that took place shortly after they were evacuated from their Los Angeles home due to devastating wildfires.
Windey, who rose to fame on shows such as The Bachelor, The Bachelorette, and Dancing with the Stars, recently opened up about the spontaneous nature of their wedding at a Las Vegas hotel. The couple shared details of their $799 nuptials in an interview with Cosmopolitan.
The whirlwind romance reached a pivotal moment when Windey and Hoffman were forced to leave their home for safety during the fires and found themselves in Las Vegas. It was here that the playful idea of getting married emerged.
“It looked like a wedding suite,” Hoffman recalled. “Gabby turned to me and asked, ‘Should we get married?’ I’ve been proposing since we first met!”
Windey agreed that the moment felt right, stating, “It was nice that I was the one to come up with the idea. Robby had been ready to propose for a while, but sometimes, when the stars align, you just have to go for it.” She noted that their dynamic usually had her slowing things down, but this time, it felt natural to take that leap.
Realizing her desire for a proposal, Windey cleverly orchestrated a unique request. “We do the New York Times crossword every morning, so I had a friend design one with clues that would lead to ‘WILL YOU MARRY ME, GABBY,'” she explained.
The very next day, they tied the knot. “Robby handled all the details, finding the same chapel where Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker had wed,” Windey highlighted. They quickly managed to procure a wedding dress and rings, embracing the spontaneous spirit of the occasion.
Despite the quick planning, the couple was overjoyed with their ceremony, which cost $799 and included a limousine ride and photography services. “Our wedding was $799. That included everything, even the minister,” Hoffman mentioned. Windey described the experience as “the best night of my life,” filled with dancing and moments of joy, even having a brief interaction with a reverend.
Once married, they received the positive news that their home had survived the wildfires. “We got so lucky,” Hoffman reflected. “We didn’t know if our house would still be standing. But at that moment, all that mattered was having each other.”
Windey expressed her happiness in the commitment they made, saying, “People often ask how it feels to be married. Honestly, it feels even better than before. I feel more committed now. This is my wife!”
The couple began dating in 2023, and Windey first confirmed their relationship during a segment on The View. She shared her desire to live openly and authentically, saying, “I’ve been seeing someone for a couple of months and wanted to keep it somewhat private as it’s part of a bigger conversation since I’m dating a girl!”
Prior to her relationship with Hoffman, Windey was engaged to Erich Schwer, following her appearance on The Bachelorette. The engagement ended in November 2022.
