Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel Celebrate One Year of ‘Gadar 2’
Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel are commemorating the first anniversary of their blockbuster film ‘Gadar 2’ by expressing heartfelt gratitude towards their loyal fans. Reflecting on the significance of the film in his life, Sunny described it as a “revolution,” emphasizing the overwhelming support he received upon its release a year ago.
On Sunday, both actors took to social media to share their excitement and pride regarding the film’s success. Sunny posted a video clip from ‘Gadar 2’, writing, “One year of the revolution in my life Gadar 2. The love you all showered from across the globe, the way that you all made the release a festival, the way you celebrated Tara Singh and his family, made theatres turn into carnivals was and will be unmatched for a long time.”
Revisiting his role as one of Bollywood’s iconic action heroes from the 1990s, Sunny expressed how the love from fans revitalized their spirits. He added, “Your love has injected a new life into all of us and this success is all yours. Love Tara Singh. 1 year of Gadar 2, Hindustan ki asli (India’s real) blockbuster.”
Ameesha Patel, who reprised her role as Sakina alongside Sunny, also conveyed her appreciation. Released on August 11, 2023, ‘Gadar 2’ serves as the sequel to the original ‘Gadar: Ek Prem Katha’ from 2001. Directed by Anil Sharma, the film takes place amid the backdrop of the Indo-Pakistan War of 1971 and features a gripping narrative about familial devotion and national pride. It was well-received at the box office, grossing ₹686 crore globally, according to industry reports.
The storyline sees Tara Singh embarking on a dangerous quest to Pakistan to rescue his son, Charanjeet ‘Jeete’ Singh, portrayed by Utkarsh Sharma, who is captured by the Pakistani forces. Set during a time of heightened political strife, Tara encounters adversaries and navigates treacherous circumstances as he strives to bring his son home.
