Gal Gadot expresses strong condemnation of Hamas attack.

Gal Gadot, an Israeli actress, recently highlighted the alarming increase in antisemitism during her remarks at the Anti-Defamation League’s International Leadership Awards. Recognized for her steadfast support of Israel, the star of Wonder Woman delivered a compelling address focused on the fears and challenges faced by Jewish communities around the world, particularly in light of the disturbing events that unfolded on October 7, 2023, when Hamas launched an unprecedented assault on Israel.

“Hatred, intolerance, and bigotry are escalating,” she remarked. “Many of us may not have faced a more challenging time regarding antisemitism in our lives, but it is reassuring to know that the ADL stands with us during these troubling times,” she emphasized.

Gal shared her personal experiences, expressing how unsettling it has become to simply embrace her identity. “My name is Gal, and I’m Jewish. Isn’t it astonishing that uttering that [I’m Jewish], that revealing such a basic part of who I am, feels like a controversial statement nowadays?” she reflected.

The actress acknowledged that antisemitism was not something she had given significant thought to before the events of October 7, which she described as a pivotal moment. “Being Israeli, I was aware that antisemitism and anti-Israel sentiments existed. I had sensed it occasionally, but I never considered it a defining characteristic of myself,” she conveyed.

On that fateful day, Hamas executed a coordinated attack on Israel involving thousands of rockets, infiltrating various Israeli communities and military sites, resulting in the deadliest single day in modern Israeli history.

“I never anticipated that we would witness such a horrific day filled with violence against Jews in our lifetime. It is equally shocking to see individuals in the streets of the U.S. and other global cities not denouncing Hamas, but rather celebrating and justifying the massacre of Jews,” Gal stated.

She stressed the far-reaching implications of these occurrences. “October 7th demonstrated that Jewish experiences are interconnected through borders. What happens to Jews in one part of the world impacts those in another. Thus, as we gather here today, we are united in calling for the safe release of every one of our hostages,” she articulated.

Gal noted the troubling reality many Jewish individuals face today, regardless of their careers, feeling increasingly apprehensive about voicing their thoughts. “This is a shared reality that transcends professions, including mine,” she said.

“However, we cannot remain passive, hoping for support from those unwilling to stand beside us,” she urged. “It is crucial that we take a stand for ourselves.”
