What you need to know
Recently, users of the Samsung Galaxy S25 Plus and Galaxy S25 Ultra have raised concerns about charging difficulties on platforms like X and Samsung’s forums. Customers are experiencing problems related to the 45W adapter and 5A cable, with reports indicating devices either charge slowly or fail to charge entirely. A representative from Samsung Italia has acknowledged the issue, confirming that a fix is forthcoming through a software update.
The troubling reports began circulating about a week ago, mainly within Samsung’s European community forums concerning the Galaxy S25 Plus and S25 Ultra models (as highlighted by SamMobile). One user described experiencing significant charging issues with their Galaxy S25 Plus when using the official 45W charger and 5A cable, claiming that the device fails to charge effectively while plugged in.
Although the device reportedly supports Samsung’s “Super Charge 2.0,” the user noted discrepancies, stating that the charging status message appears on the screen even when no movement occurs with the cable. In an effort to resolve the problem temporarily, they disabled the fast charging feature, but this led to markedly slower charging times.
Other users have echoed similar frustrations, with one S25 Ultra owner reporting an incessant cycle of “charging” and “not charging,” which disrupts their usage. Interestingly, this issue did not affect the same model owned by their spouse, leading them to replace their problematic device through Verizon, which performed without issue.
Further discussions on Samsung Italia’s forum confirmed the company’s awareness of the charging anomaly involving the 5A cable, with assurances that an update would address the problem in due time. The representative stated, “We are aware of an anomaly on charging with the 5A cable that will be resolved with a future update.”
While it seems the 45W charger’s 5A cable is at the heart of the issue, the timeline for the software fix remains unclear. Currently, the problem does not appear to be widespread, though it undeniably adds to user frustration.
Interestingly, Samsung recently issued its first patch for the Galaxy S25 series, which, although it included various system improvements and security updates, did not address the prevalent charging issues that have surfaced. This suggests users may have to wait longer for a resolution, particularly as many anticipate a fix may coincide with the forthcoming March 2025 security patch.
While Samsung has been recognized for significant advancements in battery and charging efficiency—achieving impressive speeds in charging from 0% to 70% in 30 minutes—these ongoing difficulties with several Plus and Ultra models could overshadow those accomplishments, leaving many users dissatisfied.
This is not the only complication arising for Galaxy S25 Ultra users; a separate report has highlighted concerns regarding how magnetic accessories are affecting the S Pen’s functionality.
