NZXT’s Flex Gaming PC Program Under Scrutiny

Gamers Nexus has published a new video that critically examines NZXT’s Flex gaming PC purchase and rental program. Host Steve Burke asserts that NZXT’s attempts to clarify its offerings still fall short, even following adjustments made in light of previous criticisms where Burke labeled the program a “scam.”

In a recent statement, NZXT addressed customer concerns regarding the Flex program, which Burke had highlighted for its often inconsistent specifications that could change from day to day. While the company has made some updates to the specifications and performance metrics of its purchase builds, Gamers Nexus noted persisting discrepancies, including irregular frame rate numbers and a frequently asked questions section that erroneously suggested that NZXT’s for-sale Player: Three Prime build utilizes an RTX 4090 graphics card, contradicting its provided specifications.

Although the specific FAQ entry referring to the RTX 4090 appears to have been removed, a related entry titled “What GPU is right for me?” remains, featuring the RTX 4090 and outlining its advantages. Burke points out that such contradictions can create confusion for potential buyers.

The apparent miscommunication regarding the GPU models, with NZXT falsely promoting an RTX 4090 while actually providing a 4080 Super, raises concerns about the company’s ability to maintain consistent and accurate product information. Burke questions how customers can be expected to keep track of these frequent changes if NZXT itself is struggling to do so.

Burke’s critique extends beyond pricing and specifications. He highlights issues related to “improper packaging” damage fees, which can exceed the costs associated with equivalent non-rental versions of the PCs. Additionally, the continued presence of creator-driven promotional videos conflicts with NZXT’s previous claims of having discontinued all influencer-led advertising for the Flex program. At the time of publication, NZXT had not provided a statement in response to these latest critiques from Gamers Nexus.

Continuing its investigative efforts, Gamers Nexus revealed that Burke has received numerous alarming tips from former staff and customers regarding the Flex program, and he hinted at more comprehensive coverage to come in the future.
