On April 24th at 12AM ET, many major retailers began preorders for the highly anticipated Nintendo Switch 2, but stocks quickly ran out. In a bid to accommodate eager customers, GameStop has adopted a unique approach. The retailer announced that in-store preorders would commence when their locations open for business, while online preorders would kick off at 11AM ET. This article offers a guide to successfully placing a preorder for both the standalone console and the bundle so you can be among the first to get your hands on the device when it launches on June 5th.
The standalone Switch 2 will be priced at $449.99 and will include two Joy-Con 2 controllers that magnetically attach to the console. A notable feature of these new controllers is the addition of a “C-button,” acting as a shortcut to a new in-game chat function known as GameChat. Customers will receive a box that contains a redesigned dock, a standard Joy-Con grip, wrist straps, an AC adapter, a USB-C charging cable, and an HDMI cable.
For those interested solely in the console, preorder availability will open online at GameStop today, April 24th, at 11AM ET / 8AM PT. Additionally, in-store preorders can be made at any local GameStop location as soon as they open their doors.
For those excited about the new Mario Kart installment, the limited release Switch 2 bundle will be available for preorder at a price of $499.99 starting today at 11AM ET / 8AM PT. This bundle includes a digital copy of Mario Kart World, which typically retails for $79.99, providing a savings of $30. It is worth noting that this bundle will be available only until the fall of 2025 or while supplies last. In addition to the game, the bundle comes with all the same accessories included with the standalone console, such as Joy-Con 2 controllers, a dock, and an HDMI cable.
