Garcelle Beauvais Discusses Departure from The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills
Garcelle Beauvais has officially exited the dynamic world of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, a decision that has sparked discussions among her former co-stars. During a recent episode of Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, Erika Jayne and Bozoma Saint John shared their thoughts on Beauvais’s announcement, which she revealed through an Instagram video earlier in the day.
Initially, both Jayne and Saint John appeared hesitant to comment when asked by host Andy Cohen, leading to a moment of tension. Cohen’s surprise was palpable as he prompted them for their insights, asking, “You have no thoughts on it?” Eventually, they opened up about their feelings regarding her departure after five seasons.
Saint John, who has recently joined the cast, expressed disappointment, saying, “I wish that she would’ve stuck around to work out another season.” She referred to the circumstances surrounding Beauvais’s exit, mentioning the actress’s dramatic walk-off during the season 14 reunion where she vented frustration towards her colleagues. “I don’t think it’s a high note,” added Saint John, emphasizing the unfortunate nature of the situation.
Jayne, while maintaining a somewhat playful attitude throughout the episode, also shifted to a more earnest tone, stating her desire for Beauvais to have persevered through the challenges. “Garcelle, I just really wish you stuck it out,” Jayne admitted. “I know that I’ve been catty tonight. I know you’ll do well, but I just wish you stuck it out.”
Beauvais, who made her RHOBH debut in season 10, made history as the first Black woman to join the cast since its launch in 2010. Over the years, she has garnered a significant fan base, yet also found herself at the center of intense scrutiny, particularly during the recent reunion episodes.
In her announcement, Beauvais cited her desire to spend more time with her twin sons, Jaid and Jax, as a key reason for her exit. “Their last year of high school is next year and I want to be a part of that,” she shared. Additionally, she expressed excitement about new projects in development, hinting at an evolving career path that extends beyond reality television.
She conveyed her gratitude towards everyone involved with RHOBH, acknowledging the support she received from fans and colleagues alike. “You guys have cheered me on, supported me, and sometimes even fought for me or on my behalf,” she acknowledged, hoping her audience would continue to follow her future endeavors.
As Jayne and Saint John voiced their apprehensions about Beauvais’s exit, fellow cast member Sutton Stracke offered a more supportive stance, congratulating Beauvais on her next chapter and stating she was excited to see what lies ahead for her. Andy Cohen and Jennifer Tilly also shared their admiration for Beauvais, highlighting her positive impact on the franchise.
The future of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills promises to be intriguing as it continues to explore interpersonal dynamics without Beauvais, who left an indelible mark during her tenure. The series airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET on Bravo, with episodes available for streaming on Peacock the following day.
