Recent discussions in Cairo regarding a possible ceasefire in Gaza have reportedly made notable progress, according to two sources within the Egyptian security apparatus who spoke to Reuters on Monday.
These sources indicated that there is a growing consensus on establishing a long-term ceasefire in the heavily impacted region. However, several critical issues remain unresolved, particularly concerning the armaments held by Hamas.

Hamas has consistently maintained its stance against disarming, which is a significant prerequisite for negotiations from Israel’s perspective.

In related developments, Egyptian state-affiliated Al Qahera News TV reported that General Hassan Mahmoud Rashad, the chief of Egyptian intelligence, is scheduled to meet with an Israeli delegation led by Strategic Affairs Minister Ron Dermer on the same day in Cairo.
The ongoing discussions reportedly involve representatives from both Egyptian and Israeli delegations.
