Genndy Tartakovsky is set to premiere a new animated venture on Netflix this summer, introducing audiences to an R-rated comedy entitled Fixed. The film centers around a humorous narrative involving a dog’s final day before undergoing neutering. Initially planned for a theatrical release by Warner Bros., the project was shelved amid the studio’s extensive cost-cutting measures. Fortunately, Netflix has stepped in to bring Fixed to screens, scheduled for release in 2025.
According to Netflix, the film will launch on the streaming platform on August 13. It features an impressive voice cast that includes Adam Devine, Kathryn Hahn, Idris Elba, Bobby Moynihan, and Fred Armisen. As the creative force behind acclaimed series like Samurai Jack and Primal, Tartakovsky’s foray into older audience-focused material marks an intriguing evolution in his storytelling approach. The premise follows a dog embarking on a final escapade with friends before his scheduled neutering, a comedic journey sparked by his excessive excitement with his owner. True to Tartakovsky’s style, Fixed promises to blend humor with heartfelt moments.
The film is characterized as a “raunchy-yet-heartwarming” narrative inspired by Tartakovsky’s own experiences with his close-knit group of friends. He shared, “I have maintained friendships with the same four guys since high school. They have an unparalleled ability to make me laugh, prompting me to consider how I could translate that humor into an animated format.” Below is the official plot synopsis for Fixed:
“What transpires when man’s best friend faces the prospect of losing his manhood? In the upcoming adult animation film Fixed, a clever and sharp-witted mutt named Bull (voiced by Adam Devine from The Out-Laws) learns that his owners intend to neuter him after he is caught in a compromising situation with grandma. In light of this disconcerting news, Bull recruits his loyal neighborhood companions to join him on one last wild night out, aiming to declare his affection for his neighbor, a show dog named Honey (portrayed by Kathryn Hahn of Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery).”
