Family Seeks Answers After Twin Brothers Found Dead in Georgia

A grieving family is searching for clarity following the tragic discovery of two twin brothers at the summit of a mountain in Georgia. Qaadir Malik Lewis and Naazir Rahim Lewis, both 19 years old and hailing from Lawrenceville, were found deceased by hikers on Bell Mountain in Hiawassee on March 8, as reported by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI).

The hikers alerted emergency services around 11:05 a.m. local time, leading the Towns County Sheriff’s Office to involve the GBI in their investigation. Initial findings suggest the twins succumbed to gunshot wounds, with authorities exploring the possibility of a “murder-suicide.” Autopsies are underway, and a thorough investigation remains in progress.

Shockwaves have rippled through their family, who were under the impression that the siblings were visiting friends in Boston at the time of their deaths. Family members recounted that Qaadir and Naazir had booked a flight scheduled to depart at 7 a.m. on March 7, just a day prior to the grim discovery, and plane tickets were located in their wallets.

In an emotional statement to Georgia NBC affiliate WXIA, their aunt, Samira Brawner, expressed the family’s desperation for answers. “We want answers, we want to know exactly what happened to the twins,” she emphasized.

The twins’ uncle, Rahim Brawner, reflected on their close relationship, stating, “They’re like inseparable.” He expressed disbelief at the idea of them causing harm to each other, noting that he had never seen them in conflict.

Samira highlighted the bewildering nature of the location where the brothers were found, approximately 90 miles from Lawrenceville. “How did they end up out in the mountains? They don’t hike out there, they’ve never been out there,” she said, raising questions about how they arrived at this unfamiliar place.

As of March 16, a spokesperson for the GBI confirmed that an autopsy has been completed, although the results are still pending further forensic analysis. Another aunt, Yasmine Brawner, expressed her belief that something must have happened to the twins in the mountains, stating that they enjoyed a robust support network.

Yasmine has initiated a GoFundMe campaign to assist with funeral and memorial costs. In response to the murder-suicide speculation, she asserted that her nephews, who had ambitious dreams of launching their own clothing line, “wouldn’t do this.” She voiced her concerns that a critical inquiry into the circumstances surrounding their deaths is necessary and called for support to amplify their story.

“They came from a family of love, and twins wanted so much for their future,” Yasmine remarked, capturing the emotional turmoil that the family faces as they seek justice and understanding in the wake of this heartbreaking event.
