Producers of “Gladiator II” to Receive Harold Lloyd Award
Producers Douglas Wick and Lucy Fisher, known for their significant contributions to the film industry, will be honored with the Advanced Imaging Society’s prestigious Harold Lloyd Award on February 7. The award ceremony will take place during the AIS Lumiere Awards luncheon at the iconic Beverly Hills Hotel.
Wick and Fisher have garnered acclaim for their work, which includes the critically acclaimed 2000 film “Gladiator,” directed by Ridley Scott, that famously secured five Academy Awards, including Best Picture. The highly anticipated sequel to the original, also directed by Scott, features a stellar cast, including Paul Mescal, Pedro Pascal, Connie Nielsen, and Denzel Washington.
In addition to their work on “Gladiator,” Fisher and Wick have a diverse portfolio, producing notable films such as Rob Marshall’s “Memoirs of a Geisha,” Baz Luhrmann’s visually stunning “The Great Gatsby,” the family-friendly “Stuart Little” series, and the popular “Divergent” franchise.
The Harold Lloyd Award was established 16 years ago by the family of the legendary silent film star Harold Lloyd, alongside the Advanced Imaging Society. This award has recognized exceptional filmmakers and visionary storytellers over the years, including industry luminaries like Ang Lee, Jon Favreau, and James Cameron. Suzanne Lloyd, a member of the Lloyd family, remarked on the significance of Wick and Fisher’s partnership, stating, “Doug’s artistic vision and Lucy’s dynamic leadership have brought authenticity, beauty, and profound emotion to some of our favorite epic films. Together, they represent a powerhouse collaboration that sets a gold standard in the filmmaking landscape, one that will resonate for generations.”
AIS president Jim Chabin praised Wick and Fisher for their innovative approach, noting that they have transformed modern filmmaking through their courageous storytelling and ability to enhance large-scale productions to monumental heights. “Their work has not only captivated audiences but has also redefined the standards of filmmaking. At AIS, we deeply admire their visionary contributions and the lasting impact they have made on the film industry,” he stated in a press release.
The Lumiere Awards, presented annually, celebrate both technical and creative excellence across various forms of visual storytelling, including motion pictures, episodic television, and new media content.
