Tony’s Chocolonely Announces Recall of Chocolate Bars
Chocolate enthusiasts are advised to check their supplies following a recent product recall issued by Tony’s Chocolonely Inc., a company based in New York. The recall pertains to specific chocolate bars that may contain small stones, raising safety concerns among consumers. The company made the announcement on its official website, emphasizing the importance of consumer welfare and stating that while the risk of contamination is minimal, the decision to recall was made to uphold product safety and customer satisfaction.
This recall affects a limited number of chocolate products distributed across multiple countries, including the United States and Canada. Specifically, the voluntary recall includes two varieties: the Dark Almond Sea Salt Bar (6.35 ounces) and the Everything Bar (6.35 ounces), which features a blend of milk chocolate with caramel, pretzel, almond nougat, and sea salt. Importantly, the company confirmed that no other Tony’s Chocolonely products are implicated in this issue.
The impacted lot numbers for the Dark Almond Sea Salt Bar are as follows: lot code 4327, with UPC 850011828564; lot code 4330, also with UPC 850011828564; lot code 4331, again with UPC 850011828564; and lot code M4331, which has UPC 850032676441. All of these products carry best-used-by dates from November 22, 2025, to November 26, 2025.
For the Everything Bar, the affected lot codes include: lot code 163094 with UPC 858010005641; lot code 162634, also with UPC 858010005641; and lot code M162634, which has UPC 85001182890. The best-used-by dates for these products range from February 2, 2026, to April 2, 2026.
The chocolate bars were distributed during a window from February 7 to March 24 of this year. Fortunately, there have been no reported injuries linked to this recall, and the company has confirmed that it is only certain product lots that are affected in the United States. For those who may have purchased a bar while traveling, it is noteworthy that the Melk Karamel Amandel Noga Pretzel Zeezout bar in the Netherlands has also been recalled, identified by lot number 4333.
Further information provided by Food Safety News highlights that the recall has been acknowledged by the European Commission’s Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed portal, indicating an international scope that includes other countries such as Australia, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, and the United Kingdom, among others.
The company stated, “Upon starting to receive consumer complaints, we traced the issue back to one of our almond suppliers. After investigation, we determined that a new source of almonds used in a limited batch was not adequately processed at the supplier’s facility, leading to the potential introduction of small stones into the final products.” This transparency underscores Tony’s commitment to quality and customer safety.
Customers who have purchased the affected bars can request a refund here. Those with further inquiries about the matter are encouraged to reach out to the company directly via email.
