New Benchmark Results for the Pixel 9a Surface OnlineThe benchmarks indicate performance levels consistent with the Pixel 9A potential launch for the device is anticipated this month

Upcoming developments in the Google Pixel series suggest that the Pixel 9a could be officially unveiled within the next week. Recent benchmark results have emerged, shedding light on the expected performance capabilities of this new device.

The benchmark data was shared by insider tipster @KaroulSahil, as reported by Notebookcheck. These benchmarks are speculated to originate from pre-release testing of the device. Among the notable stats are an AnTuTu score of 1,049,844 and Geekbench results showing 1,530 in single-core and 3,344 in multi-core performance.

While the AnTuTu score aligns closely with that of the current Google Pixel 9 models — which is expected, considering the Pixel 9a is anticipated to utilize the same Tensor G4 processor — the Geekbench scores fall short when compared to last August’s flagship devices from Google.

This discrepancy might be attributed to various factors, primarily the possibility that the Pixel 9a is still running on pre-launch software that may not have undergone final optimization. There could also be hardware adjustments pending finalization.

Reviewing the performance history of the Pixel mid-range series — see the Google Pixel 8a for reference — it is reasonable to expect that the Pixel 9a will deliver similar performance metrics as its predecessors upon its release.

Generally, the mid-range devices have featured hardware comparable to the previous flagship models, while achieving cost efficiency through design modifications. This positions them as an appealing option for consumers seeking quality without the premium price tag associated with flagship devices.

As is often the case, pricing will play a critical role in the device’s reception. The Pixel 8a launched at a base price of $499 / £499 / AU$849, and early indications suggest that the 128GB version of the Pixel 9a will maintain this pricing structure. However, reports indicate that the 256GB variant may see a slight price increase compared to its predecessor.

In a significant design shift, Google appears to be eliminating the traditional camera bump that characterized earlier Pixel models, resulting in a sleeker, flatter rear design for the upcoming device.
