Pixel Users Await Fix for Now Playing Feature
For several months, users of Google Pixel devices have reported persistent issues with the Now Playing feature, which is designed to identify songs playing in the background. The problem has affected a range of models, from the Pixel 6 through the Pixel 9 series, with users experiencing failures in song recognition or complete unresponsiveness from the feature. However, a recent development may provide some relief for affected users.
Google has indicated that a resolution is on the horizon. According to a new entry on Google’s Issue Tracker, the company has managed to resolve the bug impacting Now Playing and plans to include the fix in an upcoming software release. While a specific timeline has not been confirmed, there is speculation that the patch could be integrated into the March Pixel Drop, which is eagerly anticipated by users.
In addition to addressing the Now Playing feature, the March update is expected to introduce several enhancements and fixes. Notably, it aims to resolve issues with the back gesture functionality that has been problematic for some users. Further improvements are also anticipated in terms of performance and stability. New features might include a battery charging limit option, customizable Do Not Disturb schedules termed as Modes, and the ability to modify home screen icon shapes, among others. This update is set to roll out in the coming month, and updates will be provided regarding its effectiveness in resolving the Now Playing issue once it becomes available.
