Google has unveiled its Earth Day Doodle for 2025, offering a vibrant exploration of the Earth’s diverse ecosystems. Each letter of the word “Google” reflects a distinct natural environment, highlighting its rich ecological history. In contrast to previous years, where the focus was on the adverse effects of climate change, this year’s doodle provides a more uplifting perspective on our planet’s beauty.
This year’s Earth Day celebration features a unique doodle in Google Search, as announced in a press release on April 22. The Earth Day 2025 Doodle showcases stunning images derived from Google Earth, with each letter of “Google” providing a window into breathtaking landscapes worldwide.
The journey begins with the letter “G,” illustrated by the scenic Maldives, known for its twenty alluring atolls. The first “O” transitions to the Hautes-Alps in France, where the high-altitude terrain supports diverse wildlife, including chamois, marmots, and golden eagles, thriving in its challenging environment.
Continuing with the second “O,” users are transported to the rugged Côte-Nord region of Quebec. This untamed area showcases an ecosystem adapted to subarctic conditions, filled with resilient plants and animals. The next letter, the second “G,” takes us to the Mendoza Province of Argentina, a semi-arid locale characterized by an intricate river system emerging from the Andes mountains.

The letter “L” highlights southeastern Utah, revealing how tectonic forces have shaped this region of the Colorado Plateau. The deep canyons carved by the Colorado River and the unique desert flora around Lake Powell demonstrate nature’s remarkable adaptability.
Finally, the letter “E” invites viewers to western New South Wales in Australia, an arid region where drought-resistant species like spinifex and eucalyptus flourish. Wildlife here has adapted to the harsh conditions, navigating the challenging landscape with resilience.
While the 2025 Earth Day Doodle celebrates the planet’s splendor, the previous year’s rendition presented a stark contrast. Google’s 2022 effort utilized dynamic imagery to illustrate the devastating impacts of climate change, showcasing time-lapses that revealed significant environmental degradation. Users witnessed the alarming decline of polar ice caps, the rapid disappearance of once-vibrant forests, and the alarming bleaching of coral reefs in Australia, emphasizing the urgent need for environmental awareness and action.
