New Task Force Aims to Combat Judicial Activism in Trump Administration
FIRST ON FOX: Republican Representatives Andrew Clyde of Georgia and Eli Crane of Arizona are taking a bold step by forming a judicial task force focused on “exposing judicial activism” and addressing what they describe as “rogue, activist judges.” This initiative emerges amidst numerous legal challenges faced by the Trump administration.
Clyde expressed enthusiasm about co-leading this initiative with Crane, stating, “Our Judicial Activism Accountability Task Force aims to unite members in exposing judicial activism, with the ultimate goal of impeaching rogue, activist judges.” His comments suggest a proactive approach to confronting perceived overreach by judicial officials.
In a significant move earlier this year, Clyde announced he was preparing articles of impeachment against District Judge John McConnell from Rhode Island, who is currently handling a lawsuit involving President Donald Trump. McConnell previously issued a motion compelling the Trump administration to adhere to a restraining order that halted attempts to suspend federal grants and loans.

Following Clyde’s lead, Crane and other GOP representatives have also begun introducing impeachment articles targeting judges engaged in cases related to Trump. Clyde called on fellow lawmakers who share a commitment to halting judicial overreach to join this newly formed task force, emphasizing the need to protect the separation of powers and uphold the Constitution.
Crane amplified Clyde’s sentiments, asserting that “leftists weaponized the judicial branch” in recent years. He remarked, “If these activist judges want to be politicians, they should resign and run for public office.”

In solidarity with his colleagues, Tennessee Representative Andy Ogles also announced his intent to draft impeachment articles, aligning with Clyde and Crane’s approach. Ogles targeted U.S. District Judge Amir Ali, a Biden appointee, who recently mandated that the Trump administration disburse approximately $2 billion in foreign aid within a tight deadline.
JUDICIAL PUSHBACK ON TRUMP ‘HURTING AMERICAN PEOPLE,’ SAYS GOP REP LEADING IMPEACHMENT CHARGE
The Supreme Court, under Chief Justice John Roberts, has since paused Judge Ali’s order. The Trump administration argued that complying with the mandate would create an impracticable payment plan that compromises the administration’s ability to manage federal finances and foreign aid effectively.
The formation of Clyde and Crane’s task force coincides with the intensifying scrutiny faced by the Trump administration, which is currently contending with over 90 lawsuits aimed at its executive decisions. These cases range from challenges to Trump’s stance on birthright citizenship to efforts aimed at reducing unwarranted government expenditures and dismissing federal employees.

In a discussion following his impeachment announcement against Judge McConnell, Clyde asserted that the judicial resistance to Trump’s policies ultimately harms the American populace. “You’re not just hurting the president,” he noted. “You’re hurting the American people because they’re the ones who elected him, and they’re the ones who want him to do this – to exercise these specific authorities. And these judges are really denying the American people their rights.”
