Sunita Ahuja Provides Health Update on Govinda Following Gunshot Accident
In October, an unexpected incident unfolded involving renowned actor and politician Govinda. The 60-year-old accidentally shot himself at his residence while handling his licensed firearm. The misfire occurred when he inadvertently dropped the gun while attempting to place it in an almirah. Following the incident, he received several days of medical care at CritiCare Hospital in Mumbai before being discharged.
Recently, Sunita Ahuja, Govinda’s wife, shared insights into his recovery while attending a social event with their daughter, Tina. Both were seen wearing stunning ethnic attire, with Sunita opting for a lavish black sharara set, while Tina donned a sequined pink and grey ombre saree paired with a grey satin blouse. In a video shared on social media, a paparazzo approached Sunita to inquire about Govinda’s health.
She responded positively, stating, “Sir ekdam thik hai. Unko rest karne bola hai isliye iss saal Diwali wo nahi mana rahe. Toh sirf main bacchon ke saath Diwali mana rahi hun” (Sir is doing fine. He has been advised to rest, which is why he isn’t celebrating Diwali this year. I am celebrating with our children). Before entering the building, both Sunita and Tina wished the photographers a joyful Diwali.
Days earlier, Govinda’s son, Yashvardhan Ahuja, had also addressed concerns about his father’s well-being during a Diwali gathering. Yashvardhan assured the media that his father was recovering well, mentioning that the stitches from the incident had been removed, alleviating worries. In a light-hearted manner, he said, “Mast, ab ek do hafto mein dance bhi karna chalu kar lenge” (He’ll start dancing in a couple of weeks).
The accident that led to Govinda’s leg injury occurred during the first week of October as he was preparing to travel to Kolkata. After a brief period of medical care, he was discharged from the hospital. Upon his release, Govinda held a press conference where he recounted the frightening experience. He described the moment of the incident, explaining how he was alone when it happened, around 4:45 to 5 AM, while getting ready for his trip.
He recounted, “Woh giri aur chal padi” (the revolver fell and misfired). He expressed the shock he felt upon seeing the blood, saying he didn’t want to trouble anyone else regarding the incident, opting instead to document his situation through videos before being taken to Dr. Agarwal and subsequently to CritiCare Hospital.
