Teddy Swims: A Rising Star in Music and Life
Teddy Swims is carving out a significant niche in the music world with his eclectic sound and heartfelt authenticity. As he approaches the 67th Annual Grammy Awards, where he is nominated for Best New Artist, Swims, known for his hit “Lose Control,” is experiencing a pivotal moment both personally and professionally.
The artist shares that he is navigating exciting new phases in his life, including a blossoming romance, the thrill of his Grammy nomination, and the anticipation of becoming a parent alongside the release of his latest project, “I’ve Tried Everything But Therapy (Part 2).”
“This next album represents a lot of unlearning for me, and it’s about discovering what true love really should feel like,” he remarked.
Swims’ evolution to finding his unique musical identity has not been without its challenges. Initially, he explored a career in football and later ventured into musical theater at the encouragement of a friend. His journey has taught him to fully embrace his passion for music.
“The moment I took the stage for the first time, I knew this was my path,” he reflected. “The real gift isn’t just in having talent; it’s the insatiable desire to excel and to push beyond your limits.”
He also revealed that he once considered a different career trajectory, underscored by the pivotal support he received from his father.
“At 19, I was in cosmetology school,” Swims recalled. “My dad told me, ‘If music is what you want, drop out and promise you won’t look back.'”
After hearing about his Grammy nomination, Swims’ father expressed his pride with an emotional message: “I’m so proud of you, baby. I love you. And you made it all happen, son.”
“Hearing that makes me want to cry. I love him dearly,” Swims shared, reflecting on the strength of their bond.
In addition to his artistic achievements, Swims is eagerly awaiting the arrival of his child, which adds a layer of excitement to this transformative chapter.
“I can’t wait to hear their voice. I’m really excited. My only wish is that they find me cooler than my dad,” he joked, highlighting his playful anticipation.
Swims’ album “I’ve Tried Everything But Therapy (Part 2)” is currently available. The 67th Annual Grammy Awards are set to air on February 2 at 8 p.m. EST, 5 p.m. PST on CBS and will also be streamed live on Paramount+.
