Ground Zero Box Office Collection Day 1: Challenging Competition Affects Opening Performance

Emraan Hashmi makes his return to cinemas with his latest film, Ground Zero.

Ground Zero Box Office Collection Day 1: Marking his first film in two years, Emraan Hashmi’s action thriller, Ground Zero, debuted in theaters on April 25. The film’s initial reception was tepid, with early estimates indicating a first-day box office collection between Rs 1 crore and Rs 1.20 crore, according to Sacnilk.com.

Although there was anticipation ahead of its release, Ground Zero struggled to achieve robust ticket sales on its opening day. The film managed to meet its baseline target of Rs 1 crore but did not significantly surpass it. The competitive landscape, featuring the re-release of the classic comedy Andaz Apna Apna and ongoing screenings of Jaat and Kesari 2, presented a challenging environment for its launch.

Produced by Excel Entertainment under the guidance of Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani, Ground Zero features Emraan Hashmi in a pivotal role, supported by actors Sai Tamhankar and Zoya Hussain. Directed by Tejas Prabha Vijay Deoskar, the plot centers around BSF officer Narendra Nath Dubey, who was instrumental in the apprehension of terrorist Rana Tahir Nadeem, also known as Ghazi Baba, in 2003.

In the film, Hashmi embodies Narendra Nath Dubey, while Sai Tamhankar plays Jaya Dubey, and Zoya Hussain takes on the role of Aadila.

The upcoming weekend is critical for the film’s box office performance, as its success will largely hinge on viewer reactions and word-of-mouth promotion. Pre-release ticket sales were less than impressive, leaving questions about whether Ground Zero can gain momentum in the following days.

In an exciting update, Emraan Hashmi has recently announced plans to star in Awarapan 2, a sequel to the 2007 hit Awarapan. This much-anticipated sequel is scheduled to hit theaters on April 3, 2026.

Hashmi’s previous theatrical release was Tiger 3, a project that enjoyed considerable financial success, amassing Rs 260 crore in India alongside stars Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif.
