For those who have formed a delightful friendship with Alice in Disney Dreamlight Valley, reaching friendship level 4 will unlock the Mimsy Were the Borogoves quest. In typical Alice fashion, this quest takes a whimsical and riddle-laden twist right from the start.
The first clue
Commencing the adventure begins with a chat with Alice. She’ll reveal that prior to The Forgetting, she concealed a treasure somewhere in the Valley, but surprise—she has no memory of the location.
Fortunately, she penned a cryptic poem to assist you in your search. The initial line mentions a “place of sunbaked pleasure,” suggesting a visit to Dazzle Beach is in order.
Navigate to Dazzle Beach and inspect the area where it meets the Glade of Trust. Look for a bottle peeking out from the sand. Employ your Royal Shovel to unearth it, revealing another clue within.
The second clue
Next, the clue describes a “dark cavern alit with mystic lights.” This is a hint to delve into the cave that lies along the cliffs of Dazzle Beach—the one themed around Atlantis.
As you explore inside, you’ll discover clusters of vibrant, flower-like creatures reminiscent of the Mome Raths from *Wonders of Wonderland*, though thankfully much less chaotic. Simply water each group you encounter as you venture further into the cave.
At the cave’s bottom, look for a highlighted fishing ring in the pool. Equip your Royal Fishing Rod and cast your line to reel in the next bottle, which contains yet another clue.
Where to find the Jabberwocky’s Lair
The next poem guides you towards a “house of bark” surrounded by a “wooded yard,” directing your path to the Forest of Valor.
Head to the rear of the Forest, near Elsa’s cave, where you’ll spot a hollow tree log with eerie yellow eyes—a sign that the Valley’s Jabberwock has arrived.
One will typically find it in the corner of the Forest of Valor, though its position may vary based on your surrounding furniture and decorations. Be sure to check near the Frosted Heights entrance as well.
Alice will attempt to retrieve an item from the log, but the creature will nip at her, showing that even the inhabitants of Wonderland don’t welcome unexpected guests.
How to craft Wonderland Candles
Prepare to craft a set of Wonderland Candles to calm the Jabberwock’s territorial behavior. The required materials are:
- 3 Tinkering Parts
- 6 Glass
- 9 Coal Ore
- 10 Red Bell Flowers
- 12 Yellow Daisies
After gathering the necessary items, create the candles and place them around the Jabberwock’s log within the Forest of Valor. Upon doing so, the yellow eyes will disappear, revealing a chest in their place.
Ending the quest
Inside this chest lies a whimsical kaleidoscope, which is Alice’s long-forgotten treasure. Present it to her, and though she may still not recall why she hid it, a nostalgic glimmer will light up her expression.
The mystery is an integral part of the enchantment, and Alice hints at the potential for more riddles to follow in the future. With that, the Mimsy Were the Borogoves quest comes to a close. You’ve navigated through enigma-laced adventures, cared for the Mome Raths, outsmarted a Jabberwock, and reclaimed a forgotten treasure—all in a day’s escapade in Dreamlight Valley.
