GV Prakash Clarifies Misconceptions About His Divorce and Relationship with Co-Star
Music composer and actor GV Prakash Kumar recently opened up about the circumstances surrounding his divorce from singer Saindhavi, which took place in 2024. Following their split after ten years of marriage, unfounded rumors surfaced suggesting that Prakash’s relationship with actress Divya Bharathi was to blame for the breakdown of his marriage. In a candid interview with the YouTube channel Galatta, Prakash set the record straight regarding these allegations.
As speculation intensified after Prakash and Bharathi starred together in the 2021 film *Bachelor*, he stressed that their relationship is strictly professional. “People are making assumptions that we are dating after our film together. The truth is, we only interact on set. She is my colleague, and we do not socialize outside of our work environment,” Prakash remarked, pushing back against the narrative created by online trolls.
Addressing the negative comments directly, he noted, “The trolls will try to pin the blame on others. But the reality is, there is nothing personal going on between us.”
Divya Bharathi also shared her perspective during the discussion. She expressed disappointment over the backlashes she faced, stating, “After GV’s divorce, I was heavily trolled because people misconstrued our professional interactions as something more. It was quite hurtful to be accused of ruining their marriage, especially when I was pleased to see GV and Saindhavi perform together later.” Bharathi mentioned that some of the messages she received were quite disturbing, leading her to show them to Prakash, who advised her to disregard the negativity and focus on her work.
Despite the toll it took, Bharathi eventually learned to cope with the situation, realizing some matters were beyond her control. “At the end of the day, it didn’t sit well with me, but I came to understand how these things can spiral out of hand,” she reflected.
On the professional front, GV Prakash was last featured in the 2024 Tamil romantic drama *Dear*, directed by Anand Ravichandran, which included a notable cast. He is set to appear in the upcoming Tamil fantasy horror film *Kingston*, alongside Divya Bharathi, scheduled for release on March 7. Additionally, he has projects titled *Idimuzhakkam* and *13* in the pipeline.
Divya Bharathi has also been busy; she most recently starred in *Maharaja* and is set to appear in both *Kingston* and the Tamil film *Madhil Mel Kaadhal*, as well as the Telugu film *G.O.A.T*.
