Haley Joel Osment Faces Legal Trouble in California
Haley Joel Osment, renowned for his role in “The Sixth Sense,” recently encountered legal issues while visiting Mammoth Lakes, California.
Documents obtained from TMZ reveal that he was arrested on April 8 for public intoxication and possession of a controlled substance at the Mammoth Mountain Ski Area, a popular ski destination in eastern California.
Osment was taken into custody briefly before being released. The decision on whether to prosecute him now lies with the Mono County District Attorney’s office.
In a statement regarding the incident, Sergeant Jason Heilman confirmed to People magazine, “He was booked and is no longer in custody.”
As of now, Osment has not made any public remarks concerning his arrest.
This incident is not the first time the actor has faced legal challenges; approximately twenty years ago, he was arrested for misdemeanor drunk driving after crashing into a brick pillar while under the influence. In that case, he ultimately pleaded no contest to charges related to driving under the influence and possession of marijuana. As a result, Osment received a sentence that included three years of probation, 60 hours of rehabilitation, six months of Alcoholics Anonymous meetings, and a $1,500 fine.
