The figure known as “Hawk Tuah” in the cryptocurrency arena, Haliey Welch, has reportedly cleared her name after a thorough investigation by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) into her controversial meme coin. According to sources, the inquiry has concluded without any negative implications for her.
Haliey confirmed her cooperation with authorities over the past several months, stating, “For the past few months, I’ve been cooperating with all the authorities and attorneys, and finally, that work is complete.”
The SEC’s scrutiny followed the dramatic rise and subsequent crash of Haliey’s meme coin, known as the “$HAWK token,” which resulted in substantial financial losses for investors, many of whom were new to the cryptocurrency market. These losses triggered a lawsuit against the coin’s creators but did not include Haliey herself. The lawsuit claimed negligence, emphasizing that the coin was launched without appropriate approvals.
Haliey’s legal representative, James Sallah, elaborated on the conclusion of the investigation, stating, “The SEC closed the investigation without making any findings against, or seeking any monetary sanctions from, Haliey. Because they did not bring any action against her, there are no restrictions on what she can do in regards to crypto or securities in the future.”
While the SEC declined to comment on the specifics of the Hawk Tuah investigation, Haliey expressed relief at being able to move forward, saying she is “Happy to be starting back up again.” However, her upcoming projects do not seem to involve cryptocurrency; instead, she is reportedly working on a documentary about “Hawk Tuah,” alongside her podcast titled “Talk Tuah.”
Insider reports indicate that Haliey has distanced herself from the LLC that was responsible for the meme coin, signaling that she will not partake in its promotion or support any future endeavors related to it.
It appears that Haliey Welch is fully committed to stepping away from the meme coin scene, a decision seen as prudent, particularly in light of her past controversies.
