The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) in the Halifax area are currently conducting an investigation into a hate-motivated incident that took place in Lower Ship Harbour. Authorities are seeking information regarding a person of interest connected to this case.
On March 25, law enforcement was alerted to an act of vandalism that occurred the previous day. A pride flag and an “Every Child Matters” flag, prominently displayed at the end of a driveway on West Ship Harbour Road, were defaced.

According to the RCMP, the vandalism is believed to have been motivated by hatred related to various factors, including race, national or ethnic origin, sexual orientation, and gender identity and expression. The RCMP emphasized their commitment to tackling incidents of hate seriously, stating, “We condemn these criminal acts.”
The police have released a photo of the person of interest in the case. This individual is noted to have grey hair and was dressed in a black jacket and black pants during the time of the incident.
As the investigation continues, authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward, highlighting the community’s role in addressing and preventing hate-driven crimes.
