The latest chapter in Destiny 2 requires players to embark on a unique mission: harvesting the flesh of Akka for the Rites of the Deep quest. This pivotal task plays a crucial role in progressing the current seasonal storyline labeled Heresy.
In this latest act, Eris Morn makes a return from her surprisingly comfortable throne world following her earlier demise in Act One. She is intent on binding the Echo of the Navigator to prevent it from aligning with Savathûn, the Witch Queen and sister to Oryx. The essence of Akka’s flesh is vital to her plan, which is why players must venture out to collect it.
While the thought of acquiring organic remains from a deceased Hive worm god may not be conventional, the process of obtaining this item isn’t overly complicated. It cannot be found through typical game mechanics such as completing encounters or opening chests in the Nether, yet it is relatively straightforward to locate. Below, we detail the areas where you can harvest this resource in Destiny 2.
Where to Harvest the Flesh of Akka for the Rites of the Deep Quest in Destiny 2
To gather the Flesh of Akka, players must destroy certain components within the Dreadnaught. A notable location to achieve this is the Hall of Souls, where players should look for the familiar Hive spikes that must be eradicated to open various objectives—most notably, the Metamorphosis Lost Sector found in Savathûn’s Throne World.
From the Hall of Souls, navigate to the arch in the center of the area and shift your gaze to the left, near where the Ravenous creature spawns. Here, you will find several Hive flesh protruding from the walls. By destroying these, players receive the Peeled Flesh of Akka automatically. If you’re nearby, a quest marker will appear above these spots, guiding you to your target.
It’s worth noting that a couple of the required locations are in close proximity to one another, with a third located just below the entrance to an adjacent area. Throughout our explorations, we found that all attempted entries into this activity consistently led us back to the Hall of Souls, allowing players to methodically gather the necessary resources before returning to orbit, re-entering the Nether, and repeating the process.
Once players have successfully collected five pieces of the Flesh of Akka, they will be summoned to Eris Morn’s throne world for a dialogue sequence with Deputy Commander Sloane, now with full audio. This conversation shifts the narrative seamlessly into the culminating phases of the Rites of the Deep quest.
