Google Chrome Installer Issues on Intel and AMD PCs

Google Chrome, recognized as the leading web browser globally, is lauded for its extensive features and seamless integration with Google services. However, a recent issue has emerged for users attempting to download the browser, particularly those utilizing Intel and AMD processors.

According to Windows Latest, it appears that the installer for Google Chrome downloaded from the official site fails to launch on PCs equipped with Intel or AMD chips. This predicament has also been reported widely on Reddit forums by multiple users experiencing similar challenges.

When attempt to execute the ChromeSetup.exe file, users are met with the error message, “This app can’t run on your PC. To find a version for your PC, check with the software publisher.” This suggests a broader compatibility issue that could stem from incorrect installer distribution.

It is believed that Google may have mistakenly provided the Arm version of the installer to systems based on x64 architecture. Consequently, machines with Intel and AMD processors are inadvertently receiving the installer meant for devices powered by Snapdragon processors.

Despite the confusion, some users on Reddit have found a workaround. They reported success in running the installer by accessing it through this alternative Chrome link. Additionally, the offline installer appears to function correctly. Users can obtain the offline version by visiting the Chrome website, scrolling to the bottom of the page under Chrome Family, and selecting other platforms to find and download the appropriate installation file (“Windows 11/10 64-bit” for the vast majority).

As it stands, inquiries have been made to Google regarding this ongoing issue, and updates will be provided as soon as the company offers a response. Users are hopeful that Google will rectify this situation promptly, ensuring a smoother experience for all those trying to install Chrome.
