Hayden Panettiere Addresses Concerns Over Recent Interview
Hayden Panettiere recently opened up about the challenging circumstances surrounding her appearance in a video interview with People magazine, which sparked concern among her fans. In a heartfelt message shared on Instagram, the actress explained that she had been sleep-deprived leading up to the interview, which she believes impacted her performance.
“I’ve said before, I am a work in progress. We all are,” she remarked, addressing the recent backlash she faced. “It’s hard to believe that I find myself in a position where I need to clarify my state in a space where I won’t be judged for how I articulate my thoughts.”
Panettiere revealed that she had not slept for two days prior to the interview due to her dog undergoing an emergency surgery. “The filming session lasted eight hours, followed by an on-camera interview initially planned for one hour,” she explained. According to her, the interview started on a positive note, but the initial part was not included in the final edit that was published.
“I was exhausted. My representative intervened to stop the interview early as it became clear that I was fading, particularly as the conversation grew more intense,” she said. Panettiere mentioned they requested to reschedule the interview or conduct it via Zoom, but the interviewer felt it was unnecessary, describing it as an emotional and genuine conversation destined for compelling editing. She noted that the magazine does not allow for pre-release approvals of content.
“Everyone experiences grief differently,” she continued. “My health decisions and whether I am on medication should remain a private matter between me and my doctor. I am participating in interviews to promote my latest film because I take pride in it. The real concern lies in the destructive nature of social media and a news culture that thrives on sensationalism.”
Her upcoming film, titled “Amber Alert,” is set to release this Friday.
Concluding her post, Panettiere emphasized the significance of mental health, urging readers to consider the effects of their online comments. “What you say from behind a screen can deeply affect someone else,” she cautioned. She expressed gratitude toward those who supported her during this overwhelming time, reiterating her belief in personal growth and resilience.
In her interview, she also reflected on the hardships following the loss of her younger brother, Jansen, who passed away from an undiagnosed heart issue in 2023. “He was my only sibling, and losing him felt like losing half my soul,” she said. She acknowledged that while time may assist in healing, it can also bring painful realizations.
The interview stirred worry among fans who feared that Panettiere might have relapsed, given her previous battles with alcoholism and mental health issues. In the past, she has openly discussed her struggles, including an inpatient program for postpartum depression after her daughter, Kaya, was born.
Her challenges with substance abuse led to her losing custody of Kaya in 2018. In a conversation on “Red Table Talk”, she shared that while she was undergoing treatment for addictions, Kaya was relocated permanently to live with her father in Ukraine.
“I believed that by focusing on my recovery, I would eventually reunite with her,” Panettiere expressed. However, she admitted that this outcome did not materialize as she had hoped.
