In response to the devastating Los Angeles wildfires, restaurants and food brands are joining forces to support those impacted. Among these initiatives, Hedley & Bennett, known for their high-quality aprons, has collaborated with Snibbs, a chef-founded footwear brand, to launch a new sneaker specifically designed for kitchen work. The collaboration aims to support the non-profit organization Restaurants Care, which offers grants to food and beverage workers affected by the fires.

The new sneaker is an updated color version of Snibbs’ popular Orbit model, which is tailored for kitchen environments with features such as slip-resistance and construction from recycled and biodegradable materials. Not only is the shoe water-resistant, but it also incorporates a high-stretch fabric that enhances comfort and mobility. One notable color, named Illy, pays homage to Hedley & Bennett’s branding with vibrant red accents.

Ellen Bennett, the founder of Hedley & Bennett, has expressed that the loss of her mother’s home in the Eaton Fire deeply motivated her commitment to assisting those affected. The company is also directing proceeds from their LA Purple and LA Blue caps to benefit the Los Angeles Fire Department. Similarly, Snibbs’ founder, chef Daniel Shemtob, experienced the loss of his own home in the Pacific Palisades Fire, which galvanized his efforts to aid those impacted. As Shemtob articulates, “I like the visceral experience of actually picking your hands up and helping people. That’s what cooking is all about.”

Founded by Shemtob in 2020, Snibbs focuses on creating sustainable, modern work shoes for kitchen professionals. The brand’s clogs, particularly the striking electric blue version, offer a contemporary twist on traditional kitchen footwear. Reviews highlight the clogs’ spill-proof design, ease of wear, and comfort, making them a favorite among many in the culinary field.

In addition to the recent shoe collaboration, Snibbs has proactively aided restaurant workers impacted by the wildfires. The company has provided free meals and shoes through various distribution points in Los Angeles, and a portion of sales from its ROVR sneakers is being donated to World Central Kitchen, an organization dedicated to providing relief to those affected by the fires. Furthermore, Snibbs is donating 100 percent of profits from its Smorgasburg clog to Restaurants Care. The company has also introduced a Snibbs Community Giveback Program, providing up to $500 and a complimentary pair of footwear to select applicants. This collaboration with Hedley & Bennett adds to Snibbs’ ongoing commitment to supporting the Los Angeles restaurant community.

The Orbit sneaker is set to launch on Friday, February 7, and will be available at both Snibbs and Hedley & Bennett. Additionally, Snibbs has initiated a GoFundMe campaign in partnership with The Lime Truck to further assist families affected by the fires.
