Elon Musk made a notable visit to the Pentagon on Friday morning, engaging in discussions with Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth centered around themes of “innovation, efficiencies & smarter production,” as Hegseth communicated through a post on X the evening prior.
Hegseth refuted claims published by the New York Times suggesting that Musk would be briefed on strategies regarding a potential military conflict with China, labeling the report as “fake news” in his post. A defense official confirmed that Musk, who leads the Department of Government Efficiency, met with high-ranking military personnel, including General David Allvin, the Chief of Staff of the Air Force, who was seen entering the meeting.
Upon arriving at the Pentagon, Musk and Hegseth exchanged a handshake, with Musk expressing his willingness to assist in any way he can, stating, “If there’s anything I can do to be helpful, I’d like to see you.”
While Musk is not officially designated as a military adviser to the President, he has been involved in initiatives aimed at reducing the size of the federal government, including the Department of Defense. His business ventures—such as Starlink and SpaceX—hold significant government contracts, working with various agencies including NASA, the Space Force, and the Air Force.
Additionally, it is anticipated that Hegseth and former President Trump will unveil a contract award for the development of sixth-generation fighter jets during the course of the day.
