Herman Miller Unveils Innovative Spout Sit-to-Stand Table

Herman Miller has introduced a novel height-adjustable desk characterized by a distinctive design that sets it apart from traditional models. The Spout Sit-to-Stand Table employs four cylindrical legs, each equipped with its own motor, rather than the conventional two-column setup. This innovative leg arrangement enhances mobility and stability, allowing it to support a weight capacity of up to 400 pounds. The table also offers optional wheels, enabling easier movement across workspaces.

Along with its advanced features, the Spout table comes with a notable drawback: its cost. As detailed in a recent company announcement, the table will be available in dimensions ranging from 24×48 inches to 48×84 inches. Currently, only three sizes are offered on Herman Miller’s online store, starting at a price of $2,300 for a 23×46-inch model, with mid-size options priced at $2,600 and $2,700, respectively. The premium 35×70-inch model can escalate to $3,400 with an upgrade to a walnut veneer finish and an integrated cable tray.

The design of the Spout table allows larger versions to accommodate chairs on all four sides, making it a fitting choice for collaborative environments. This feature could foster cooperative work dynamics, provided that users can agree on when to adjust the height of the table.

The Spout table also encompasses a cable management system to help maintain a tidy appearance, featuring clips attached to one leg to organize the power cord. An optional cable tray can be installed beneath the table to further conceal wires.

For added convenience, the table includes a storage drawer that can hold laptops and other small devices, facilitating charging while the items are stored. Among its technological enhancements, the Spout is one of the first Herman Miller products to incorporate Ello Power accessories. Integrated into the desk’s surface are two USB-C ports capable of providing up to 100W of power each—sufficient for charging laptops, although total power delivery diminishes to 65W when both ports are in use. For additional connectivity, extra USB-C ports can be integrated through supplementary accessories.
