Alabama High School Football Coach Arrested for Inappropriate Student Relationship
A football coach in Alabama has been taken into custody after being accused of engaging in an inappropriate relationship with a student. Robert Carter, who served as the head coach at Clarke County High School, was arrested in Niceville, Florida, during a traffic stop. Reports indicate that he left Alabama amidst an ongoing investigation into his alleged misconduct.
Carter, aged 55, faces 11 charges and is currently being held at the Okaloosa County Jail on a bond set at $122,000. The charges against him include four counts of a school employee engaging in a sexual act with a student, four counts of distributing or soliciting obscene material, and three counts of soliciting a sex act with a student.
The Clarke County School System announced that Carter had already been placed on administrative leave prior to his arrest. Clarke County Schools Superintendent Ashlie Flowers commented on the situation, emphasizing the importance of professionalism and integrity among staff members. She stated, “As the leader of Clarke County Schools, I expect professionalism and integrity from my faculty and staff,” adding that the district takes allegations of employee misconduct seriously and works closely with law enforcement to ensure the safety and well-being of students remains the top priority.
Carter took over as the football coach at Clarke County in 2023, compiling a record of 15-10 over two seasons. Prior to this, he coached at Beauregard High School, where he led the team to win a state championship in 2016, and also had coaching stints at Sylacauga in 2021 and 2022.
The case continues to unfold, with local authorities cooperating in the investigation and ensuring that appropriate measures are taken to address any misconduct within educational institutions.
