The Billboard Women in Music 2025 event radiated camaraderie and admiration among its attendees. For those who couldn’t attend, we will summarize the key highlights and significant moments that defined the evening. From Drew Afualo’s intriguing reading of Muni Long’s birth chart to the delightful Polaroid moments captured by aespa and Ángela Aguilar’s heartfelt rendition of “Cielito Lindo,” we offer you an inside look at this unforgettable night.
Highlights from the Event
Rania Aniftos shared her experiences at the event:
The atmosphere was charged with excitement as I conducted interviews with honorees, presenters, and attendees alongside my co-correspondent, Jazzy. Interestingly, several of our interviewees seemed more in awe of Jazzy than of any celebrity at the event. Benedict Polizzi’s lighthearted catcalls brought laughter among our team as they entered to accept their awards. This event was a testament to the supportive networks among women, celebrating each other’s substantial contributions to the music industry. Tina Knowles gave a touching tribute to her daughters during her speech. Furthermore, Ángela Aguilar captivated the audience as she acknowledged immigrant women and advocated for their safety, bringing tears to many eyes. Demonstrating her commitment, she had a local children’s choir from the Harmony Project join her on stage.
Backstage, Ángela continued her advocacy for under-resourced communities, and the celebration continued in our portrait studio, where attendees mingled and captured memories. Drew Afualo showed her generosity by presenting flowers as she conducted interviews with honorees. True to her Virgo nature, Drew also took the opportunity to read Billboard Birth Charts. A unique touch included inviting guests to write love letters to women worldwide, creating a beautiful compilation for our Billboard polaroid collection. Gracie Abrams expressed her gratitude to Taylor Swift while accepting the Songwriter of the Year award before she performed “I Love You, I’m Sorry.” Summer Walker honored the iconic Erykah Badu with her award, showcasing an outfit that left a lasting impression.
As the evening concluded, aespa, recognized as Billboard’s Group of the Year, made a quick visit to our backstage lounge before their grand finale performance. The night ended on a celebratory note, with Doechii, our Woman of the Year, presenting flowers to Erykah Badu while also acknowledging the women on her team. This event was indeed another memorable edition of Billboard Women in Music, cementing its legacy as a celebration of resilience and artistry.
