Wordle Strategy
My daily routine involves using the Wordle Bot to analyze my guesses. You can also assess your Wordle performance using the Wordle Bot.
It can be quite disheartening when the first two guesses yield no correct letters, as happened today with SPORE and CHAIN. This drastically narrowed down my options. After the guess for BULKY, I was left with 12 potential answers; however, several were familiar from past games, like MUMMY and GUMMY. Ultimately, I went with DUMMY (almost opting for FUZZY) and was fortunate to land the answer. Victory at last!
Competitive Wordle Stats
Wordle Bot Results
Similar to yesterday’s experience, the Bot and I ended up tied with a score of four, resulting in both of us receiving 0 points. Here’s the current situation for the month:
Erik: 12 points
Wordle Bot: 16 points
Understanding Competitive Wordle Scoring
The scoring system operates as follows: guessing in 1 gets you 3 points; in 2, 2 points; in 3, 1 point; in 4, 0 points; in 5, -1 point; and in 6, -2 points. Failing to guess correctly incurs a -3 point penalty. Gaining a win against your opponent awards an additional point, while a tie keeps both scores unchanged. This makes for an engaging daily score tally, with Fridays being a ‘double points’ day—both positive and negative!
You can opt for a running score or play on a day-to-day basis. Enjoy the challenge!
Etymology of Today’s Wordle
The term “dummy” has its roots in the adjective “dumb,” referring to someone unable to speak, combined with the suffix “-y,” which turns nouns into descriptors. This word first emerged in English during the late 16th to early 17th century, initially describing a mute individual. By the 18th century, it had broadened to imply “an imitation” or a model, eventually encompassing the meaning of “foolish person.”
