The iconic television series Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi is rumored to be on the verge of a highly awaited revival, generating a wave of enthusiasm among its viewers. Recent reports indicate that Ektaa Kapoor is reportedly working on a new iteration of the series, with an official announcement likely to be made in June 2025. Fans are particularly eager to see the return of original cast members Smriti Irani and Amar Upadhyay, who portrayed Tulsi and Mihir, respectively.
Actor Hiten Tejwani, who became well-known for his role as Karan Virani in the original series, has expressed his excitement regarding the potential reboot. In a recent interview with Hindustan Times, Tejwani mentioned that while he has not yet been approached about reprising his role, the thought of the show returning thrills him. “Definitely! I would surely want to do it,” he stated when asked about his willingness to participate in the revival. He acknowledged that the concept has always been under consideration by Ektaa and her team, emphasizing their ownership of the show and their discretion regarding its re-launch.
Tejwani further recalled that discussions about a revival had occurred six or seven years prior but did not progress at that time due to Smriti Irani’s commitments. “I believe Smriti was busy back then, which is why it didn’t materialize,” he explained.
Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi originally aired from 2000 to 2008 and is credited with transforming the Indian television landscape with its dramatic storytelling and memorable characters. The show not only became a cultural cornerstone but also propelled numerous actors into the limelight, maintaining a devoted fanbase long after its conclusion.
Should the show return, and should Smriti Irani join the cast, it would signify her return to acting after a significant hiatus, with her last performance in the industry being in 2016 during an episode of Ek Thhi Naayka, also created by Ektaa Kapoor.
While an official confirmation from Balaji Telefilms is still pending, the excitement surrounding Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2.0 is palpable, as fans and original cast members alike eagerly await an opportunity to relive the nostalgia.
