In a remarkable move that aligns with the rapid advancements in technology, Honor has revealed its latest flagship smartphone series, the Magic7, just months after launching the Magic6 series. This new line features an array of enhancements including a powerful chipset, larger batteries, improved charging capabilities, and more durable designs.

Both the Honor Magic7 and Magic7 Pro are equipped with the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, which significantly boosts their computational performance, particularly for AI-driven tasks, enhancing functions from virtual assistance to advanced camera processing.

Powerful Performance with Snapdragon 8 Elite

A standout feature of the Honor Magic7 Pro is its new 200MP telephoto camera, an upgrade from the already impressive 180MP lens found on its predecessor, the Magic6 Pro. This substantial sensor, measuring 1/1.4”, is positioned behind a 60mm lens, enabling a comfortable 2.5x optical zoom which can be digitally expanded up to an astounding 100x.

Advanced Telephoto Capabilities with 200MP Camera

The primary camera remains robust, featuring a 50MP sensor with a variable aperture ranging from f/1.4 to f/2.0, along with optical image stabilization (OIS). The ultra-wide camera setup retains a 50MP sensor and a 12mm f/2.0 lens (122°), with the capability to focus on subjects just a couple of centimeters away, making it ideal for macro photography.

For selfies, the Magic7 Pro includes another 50MP sensor paired with a wide 90° lens (f/2.0). The pill-shaped cutout at the top of the display houses both the front camera and a 3D face scanner that allows for secure biometric authentication, functioning effectively even in low light due to its infrared illuminator. Additionally, the ultrasonic fingerprint reader also performs well in dark conditions.

High-Quality Display with Enhanced Features

The integrated 6.8” LTPO OLED display (1-120Hz) boasts a resolution of 1,280 x 2,800 pixels with 10-bit color support, including Dolby Vision. The screen achieves a peak brightness of 1,600 nits, with HDR content capable of reaching up to 5,000 nits. Notably, it employs high-frequency PWM dimming at 4,320Hz and features a “micro quad curved” design for an immersive viewing experience.

In terms of battery capacity, the Pro model houses a 5,850mAh battery, representing a modest increase of 250mAh over its predecessor. The standout improvement is in the charging speed: it supports 100W wired and 80W wireless charging capabilities, an upgrade from the 80W wired and 66W wireless charging of the earlier version.

The standard Honor Magic7 features a similarly impressive LTPO OLED display (1-120Hz) with a flat 6.78” screen size (1,264 x 2,800 pixels). This model also transitions to an ultrasonic fingerprint reader, setting it apart from the optical readers used in the Magic6 series. However, it does not include the 3D face scanner found in the Pro version, resulting in a simpler biometric solution.

The Magic7 loses the advanced telephoto sensor but maintains a robust camera system: a 50MP telephoto module with OIS (providing 3x optical and up to 50x digital zoom), alongside a 50MP main camera (1/1.3” sensor with a fixed f/1.9 aperture) and a 50MP ultra-wide lens capable of capturing macro shots.

Battery and Durability Enhancements

The Magic7 incorporates the latest iteration of Honor’s battery technology, named the third-generation Honor Qinghai Lake battery. It has a total capacity of 5,650mAh, an increase of 200mAh from the previous model, while also supporting rapid charging options identical to those of the Pro model.

Unlike its predecessor, which lacked any official dust and water resistance rating, both the Magic7 and Magic7 Pro boast an IP68/IP69 rating for enhanced protection against water and dust, adding to their durability.

Similarities and Connectivity Features

It is notable that the standard Magic7 offers many high-end features that align with the Pro model, including the same powerful chipset, camera systems, and battery technology. Additionally, both models support satellite connectivity through the Beidou system, although availability may be limited to the Chinese market.

Pricing and Availability

The Honor Magic7 series is available for pre-order, with the official sales set to begin on November 8. The base model, Magic7, starts at CNY 4,500 for the 12/256GB configuration, translating roughly to $630/€585/₹53,000. Higher storage options include variants of 12/512GB priced at CNY 4,800, 16/512GB at CNY 5,000, and a top-tier 16GB/1TB model at CNY 5,500.

The Magic7 Pro starts at CNY 5,700 for the 12/256GB model ($800/€740/₹67,250), with upgrades available to 16GB/512GB for CNY 6,200, and 16GB/1TB for CNY 6,700.
