Cinnamon Toast Crunch Bacon: A Sweet and Savory Innovation from Hormel
While it’s not uncommon to enjoy bacon alongside cereal, Hormel is taking this unexpected pairing to a whole new level with the introduction of their limited-edition Black Label Cinnamon Toast Crunch Bacon. This innovative product blends the savory delight of thick-cut bacon with the iconic flavors of General Mills’ beloved Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal.
Produced in Minnesota, Hormel’s new creation involves hand-rubbing a special seasoning, termed Cinnadust, onto the bacon, which is then left to infuse overnight. This process aims to enhance the flavor profile, resulting in bacon that boasts a sugary crust infused with notes of cinnamon, sugar, and salt. It’s a unique twist reminiscent of the treat known as Millionaire’s Bacon, but featuring a distinctly nostalgic connection to the cereal brand.
Aly Sill, the senior brand manager for Hormel Black Label Bacon, expressed enthusiasm about this co-branded venture, stating, “It doesn’t get more iconic than Normal Black Label Bacon and Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal, so we went big with our first-ever co-branded bacon product. We’re excited to bring fans a bacon that is packed with flavor and blasted with Cinnadust seasoning blend for any eating occasion.”
Starting September 16, this novel bacon will be available at select Walmart locations, with plans to expand distribution to certain Kroger stores while supplies last.
The collaboration between Hormel and Cinnamon Toast Crunch seems seamless, given the enduring popularity of sweet and savory combinations. Brandon Tyrrell, senior marketing manager for Cinnamon Toast Crunch, commented, “Sweet and savory is such a classic combination, and blasting Black Label bacon with our Cinnadust seasoning blend is a no-brainer to deliver the epic flavor our fans love in even more ways.”
For those eager to try this bold new flavor, Hormel has recommended several ways to enjoy the bacon. Among their suggestions is a unique breakfast sandwich that combines the Cinnadust bacon with peanut butter and banana—an homage to Elvis Presley’s renowned culinary preferences. They also suggest pairing the bacon with classic French toast or incorporating it creatively into refrigerated cinnamon rolls for a flavorful twist.
Looking ahead, Hormel is committed to continuing its innovative streak. The company has hinted at future collaborations and unique bacon products set to launch in 2025 and beyond. This raises intriguing possibilities: Could we soon see bacon made with flavors inspired by other cereals, or perhaps even the much-discussed Flamin’ Hot Cheetos infused bacon?
As the food industry evolves, Hormel’s endeavor is a testament to the growing trend of blending beloved flavors in unexpected ways, inviting consumers to rethink traditional culinary boundaries.
