Traveling can be an exhilarating experience, yet the challenge of packing often dampens the excitement for many. In an intriguing twist, hotels are stepping up to ease this burden.

Henley Vazquez, founder of the New York-based travel agency Fora, observes that hotels have historically offered various amenities to guests. However, the trend is shifting as more establishments collaborate with brands to ensure travelers can enjoy their favorite activities without the hassle of extensive packing.

“It’s inspiring to witness brands engaging directly with hotels to create unique products and experiences that enhance guests’ stays,” Vazquez noted.

1. Bulky Sporting Goods

For some, finding time to exercise during a holiday can be difficult, while others simply cannot accommodate sports equipment in their luggage. Properties like the Amanyara hotel in Turks and Caicos offer a solution by providing tennis balls, rackets, and even tennis shoes from renowned brands such as Babolat and K Swiss, allowing guests to indulge in their favorite sports without the need to pack bulky footwear.

Vazquez highlights that resorts situated in scenic locales often present the most enticing perks. For instance, Brush Creek Ranch in Wyoming boasts an extensive collection of weather-proof outerwear for guests ready to explore its private ski terrains.

This luxury all-inclusive destination provides essential skiing gear such as pants, jackets, gloves, and even skis sourced from the French sports equipment company Rossignol, as detailed on its website.

In Connecticut, the Mayflower Inn & Spa has partnered with Barbour, a brand synonymous with British heritage, to offer guests access to a “borrowing closet” filled with Barbour boots and waterproof jackets suitable for a variety of outdoor adventures.

For those who prefer to travel with their own fitness wear, The Thompson Denver by Hyatt offers a convenient daily laundry service for gym attire, minimizing the packing hassle.

2. Clothing and Luxury Handbags

While basic amenities like blow-dryers and toiletry kits have long been standard in hotel rooms, some luxury accommodations go above and beyond. For example, hotels such as London’s Jumeirah Carlton Tower and the ritzy Passalacqua in Lake Como feature sophisticated hair tools like Dyson Airwraps, which can dry and style hair simultaneously.

At the Four Seasons Resort Orlando, guests can access a shopping service via the hotel’s app, allowing them to purchase outfits upon arrival. With a feature called “Style Chat,” visitors can consult stylists to curate looks tailored for various occasions, from poolside outings to evening dinners. If no purchases are made, a modest styling fee is applicable.

Additionally, at the Four Seasons Hotel Houston, guests can enjoy complimentary luxury handbag rentals through a collaboration with Vivrelle, allowing them to choose from a dynamic collection featuring iconic brands like Prada and Gucci.

At Six Senses Vana in Dehradun, India, guests can expect to receive daily sets of traditional attire, referred to as “kurta,” permitting them to take a relaxed approach to packing. The hotel also provides cozy slippers and stylish wool capes for guests’ comfort.

3. Baby Gear

Traveling with infants presents its own unique set of challenges, particularly when it comes to managing bulky baby gear. Hotels like the Fullerton Hotel Singapore cater to families by providing an array of essentials, from high chairs to toddler step stools and baby bathtubs.

Kimpton Hotels, part of the IHG group, go a step further with their “Family Fridges,” which are specifically designed to safely store breast milk. The brand also focuses on childproofing guest accommodations with items like outlet covers and toilet latches.

Shangri-La Singapore elevates the family-friendly experience by offering themed suites and Family Deluxe rooms with access to a fully stocked pantry containing baby equipment, including Stokke strollers, cots, and bottle warmers. For those not staying in these special rooms, many baby items can be requested at no additional charge.

4. Pet Supplies

The pet travel sector is experiencing significant growth, with a market value of $2 billion projected to rise to $4.6 billion by 2032, according to travel media outlets. To address the needs of traveling pet owners, Kimpton Hotels offer a range of complimentary amenities, including pet beds, food bowls, and grooming items.

While it won’t lighten your suitcase, some Kimpton locations, such as the Hotel Palomar in Beverly Hills, even welcome pets at their nightly wine receptions.

Ultra-luxury establishments like Capella Singapore also cater to furry companions by providing comforts such as pet beds and feeding bowls, further enhancing the travel experience for pet owners seeking a touch of luxury for their pets.
