After incorporating its open-source Llama AI model into previous Connect conferences, Meta is launching a dedicated event called LlamaCon, scheduled for April 29. This virtual conference promises a focused exploration of generative AI and will be accessible via live stream on the Meta for Developers Facebook page.
The event will commence at 1 PM ET / 10 AM PT with a keynote address featuring Chris Cox, Meta’s Chief Product Officer, along with Vice President of AI Manohar Paluri and research scientist Angela Fan. Their presentation will delve into advancements within Meta’s open-source AI community, spotlighting updates related to the Llama model collection and previewing forthcoming AI capabilities.
Following the keynote, at 1:45 PM ET / 10:45 AM PT, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg will engage in a discussion with Databricks CEO Ali Ghodsi about the development of AI-driven applications. Later in the day, at 7 PM ET / 4 PM PT, Zuckerberg will be joined by Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella to discuss current trends in AI. While these conversations may not serve as platforms for major announcements, the collaboration history between Microsoft and Meta keeps expectations high.
Historically, Meta has not awaited conferences to unveil updates regarding Meta AI or the Llama model. For instance, the company revealed the new Llama 4 model series, noted for its capabilities in image understanding and document parsing, on a Saturday in early April. Consequently, it remains uncertain what additional innovations or products Meta might unveil at LlamaCon.
LlamaCon will air live on April 29 through the Meta for Developers Facebook page, with real-time updates provided by Engadget to ensure that viewers stay informed throughout the event.
