2024 Gotham Awards Set for December 2nd
The 34th Annual Gotham Awards will be held on December 2, 2024, at Cipriani Wall Street in New York City. The event, organized by the Gotham Film & Media Institute, promises to recognize outstanding achievements in independent film with nine awards. In addition, the ceremony will honor notable figures in the industry with various special tributes.
This year’s honorees include Angelina Jolie for her performance in “Maria,” Denis Villeneuve for directing “Dune: Part Two,” and Timothée Chalamet alongside James Mangold for their visionary work in “A Complete Unknown.” Other tributes will be awarded to Zendaya for her role in “Challengers,” the ensemble cast of “The Piano Lesson,” Franklin Leonard and his organization The Black List for their anniversary, and the cast of “Sing Sing” in recognition of their commitment to social justice.
Though the Gotham Awards won’t be broadcast on traditional television, fans can still view the ceremony from the comfort of their homes. The awards will be streamed live on Variety‘s YouTube channel, starting at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT.

Gold Derby will provide live updates on the winners throughout the event, along with a red carpet gallery showcasing Hollywood’s brightest stars as they arrive. Viewers equipped with devices like Apple TV, Fire TV, or Roku can access the awards live through KVUE+, the Austin-based news station that will air the ceremony for free.
Apart from the special tributes, the Gotham Awards will also recognize excellence with honors in categories including Best Feature, Best International Feature, Best Documentary Feature, Best Director, Best Screenplay, Breakthrough Director, Best Lead Performance, Best Supporting Performance, and Breakthrough Performer.
This year’s frontrunner, “Anora,” received four nominations, including Best Feature and Best Lead Performance for Mikey Madison, Best Supporting Performance for Yura Borisov, and Best Director for Sean Baker. Other contenders for Best Feature include “Babygirl,” which earned a nomination for Nicole Kidman in the Best Lead Performance category, “Challengers,” “A Different Man” featuring Adam Pearson nominated for Best Supporting Performance, and “Nickel Boys,” which garnered additional nods for Best Director (raMell Ross) and Breakthrough Performance (Brandon Wilson).
