Celebrating a Milestone in Indian Cinema

Fans of Hrithik Roshan and Ameesha Patel will have a reason to celebrate as their landmark film, Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai, makes a highly anticipated return to theaters on January 10, marking 25 years since its original release.

Following the successful re-release of other iconic films, including Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, PVR INOX has scheduled this romantic drama’s return, allowing audiences to revisit the magic that captivated viewers in 2000.

Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai, helmed by director Rakesh Roshan, catapulted Hrithik Roshan to fame as it debuted in January 2000, while also introducing Ameesha Patel to the silver screen. The film not only featured impressive performances from new stars but also boasted a talented supporting cast, including renowned actors like Anupam Kher and Farida Jalal. The re-release conveniently coincides with Hrithik’s birthday, creating a perfect occasion for fans to relive this cinematic experience.

Reflecting on this momentous occasion, Hrithik expressed, “It feels almost surreal to acknowledge that 25 years have come and gone since Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai! This milestone is incredibly humbling and inspires me. My debut film remains close to my heart, and I’m thankful for its ongoing resonance with fans.”

The narrative of Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai follows Rohit, played by Hrithik, a talented and charming singer who falls deeply in love with Sonia, portrayed by Ameesha. Their romance, filled with joyous moments, is tragically disrupted by Rohit’s untimely death in a mysterious accident, leaving Sonia shattered and heartbroken.

Struggling with her loss, Sonia seeks solace abroad, only to encounter Raj, a man whose appearance is eerily similar to Rohit’s. As their bond grows, Sonia begins to uncover dark secrets surrounding her lover’s death. Together, Raj and Sonia embark on a dangerous journey to unveil the truth, facing formidable foes along the way.

Rakesh Roshan shared his thoughts about the film’s enduring legacy, stating, “This occasion holds significant meaning for me as a father, producer, and director. The memories of creating Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai flood back, and it brings me immense joy to see the film celebrated so many years later. I am particularly excited to see it re-released on Hrithik’s birthday.” He also noted the film’s songs remain popular and continue to evoke nostalgia at gatherings and events today.

As fans prepare to celebrate this landmark film, Hrithik is currently involved in the production of War 2, directed by Ayan Mukerji. This upcoming installment is part of YRF’s spy universe, which has gained immense popularity with films like Ek Tha Tiger and Pathaan. War 2 will also feature Kiara Advani and introduce Jr NTR’s Bollywood debut in a pivotal role.
