Huawei has sparked interest with its recent “innovative product launch” announcement on the social platform X, hinting at an imminent global unveiling of the Mate XT Ultimate Design. While the company has not officially confirmed the details surrounding this event, the teaser image has fueled speculation among tech enthusiasts.
The Mate XT made its debut as the first-ever tri-fold smartphone in September 2024, featuring a fully unfolded display that measures 10.2 inches and boasts a high 3K resolution, along with a premium price point.
In a recent post, Huawei suggested that something significant is on the horizon, with many guessing it involves the highly anticipated tri-fold device (as noted by Android Authority). The message was framed as an invitation to partake in a groundbreaking reveal, specifically mentioning “the ultimate,” which many interpret as a direct reference to the Mate XT Ultimate Design.

At this time, Huawei has not officially confirmed these speculations. Aside from murmurs within the user community about the possibility of the Mate XT, the company’s official response to inquiries has simply been a prompt to “Stay tuned!”
To provide context, Huawei stunned the tech world by launching the Mate XT tri-fold smartphone, surprising competitors such as Samsung when it was released. When fully expanded, this innovative device transforms into a tablet, showcasing an impressive display size. The tri-fold design allows for versatile usage: the device can operate in various “modes,” offering a compact 6.4-inch OLED display when using a single panel or expanding to 7.9 inches when opened further.
The device is designed with an aspect ratio of 16:11 and is expected to deliver exceptional 3K visuals.
The Mate XT is also equipped with a cutting-edge hinge mechanism, facilitating both internal and external bending, enhancing durability during everyday use.
The camera system includes a circular array featuring three lenses: a 50MP main sensor, a 12MP ultra-wide sensor, and a 12MP periscope lens. Users in China have already begun exploring AI functionalities integrated into the device, which assist in photography and content creation.
With a starting price of ¥19,999 (approximately $2,808), the Mate XT is positioned as a premium offering. Speculation suggests that a similarly high price point may be anticipated in the U.S. market should this teaser indeed indicate the global launch of the tri-fold device. Huawei has indicated that a broader rollout could occur in the first quarter of 2025, stirring excitement within the tech community for what lies ahead.
