Hugh Jackman’s recent concert at Radio City Music Hall saw a remarkable turn of events when Lauren Blackman, a talented Broadway performer, filled in at the last minute to deliver the song “Never Enough.” This occurrence unfolded just one day after the show’s premiere, as the original performer was unable to sing due to illness.
Blackman documented her unexpected performance on Instagram, offering fans a glimpse into the experience, which included Jackman’s encouraging words before she took to the stage. Her rendition of the beloved song was met with an enthusiastic response from the audience, culminating in a heartfelt ovation.
In her Instagram post, Blackman recounted the whirlwind of emotions leading up to her performance. “On January 25th, following the opening of Hugh Jackman’s incredible show as his backup singer, I found myself experiencing a, Capital M, MOMENT. With only 3.5 hours’ notice, I slipped into my mom’s dress and took a bold step forward. I understood that perfection was not the goal; being present was what mattered,” she wrote.
Previously, Blackman and Jackman shared the stage in the Broadway production of The Music Man, where she served as the understudy for Sutton Foster’s role as Marian Paroo. Her Broadway credits also include appearances in Lempicka, The Music Man, and Anastasia, along with a role in the national tour of Hello, Dolly! as Irene Molloy.
