The Atlantic Theater Company has announced an additional performance of their critically acclaimed world premiere play, *I’m Assuming You Know David Greenspan*, which has already sold out. Due to overwhelming demand, tickets are now available for a performance on Sunday, April 27, at 7:00 PM.
This play, crafted by playwright Mona Pirnot—known for works like *I Love You So Much I Could Die*—is directed by the esteemed Ken Rus Schmoll, a recipient of the Obie Award for his contributions to theater. It debuted on April 6 to enthusiastic reviews and will conclude its run on Sunday, April 30.
The storyline features a unique premise: a 69-year-old man portrays four millennial women in a comedic yet dramatic exploration of the challenges faced by aspiring playwrights in today’s artistic landscape.
Mona Pirnot’s body of work includes *I Love You So Much I Could Die*, which received several award nominations, and the play *Private*, which garnered a Helen Hayes Award nomination. Pirnot has established herself as a significant voice in contemporary theater, recognized as a NYTW Usual Suspect and an alumnus of EST/Youngblood. She is also a former 2019 Playwright in Residence at the Williamstown Theatre Festival and was honored with the 2022 Berwin Lee Brown Playwrights Award.
Director Ken Rus Schmoll expresses his excitement about collaborating with Pirnot and his directorial debut at the Atlantic Theatre. Schmoll has an impressive track record, having directed notable works, including David Greenspan’s solo interpretative performances. His creative partnerships span various projects with acclaimed artists, and he is involved in developing multiple new plays for actress Birgit Huppuch. With two Obie Awards and numerous nominations to his name, Schmoll’s influential presence continues to shape the theater scene. He holds an MFA degree from prestigious mentors Anne Bogart and Robert Woodruff.
David Greenspan, an accomplished actor and playwright, has appeared in various productions, including his works *Dead Mother* and *I’m Looking for Helen Twelvetrees*. He has also made significant contributions to the theater through solo renditions of both classic and contemporary plays. Notable ventures include adaptations of works by legendary playwrights like Eugene O’Neill and Gertrude Stein. Greenspan’s extensive experience encompasses a wide range of performances, earning him accolades such as the Alpert Award and six Obies for his compelling performances in theater.
