Dr. Squatch and Call of Duty Join Forces for a Unique Gamer Experience
The newest collaboration in the gaming world, specifically from the Call of Duty franchise, brings attention not just to in-game elements, but also to how players can enhance their off-screen experience. For those gamers out there feeling the need to freshen up, this partnership might just be what you are looking for.
Dr. Squatch Soap Company has launched a limited edition range of soap and deodorant inspired by iconic characters from the CoD series, including Captain Price and John “Soap” MacTavish. This product launch has generated considerable interest, especially among players seeking not only to eliminate body odor but also to engage with their favorite game on another level. I decided to test this four-pack of products myself, in hopes of combating my own gamer perspiration while immersed in CoD.
My order included two distinct soaps—Ghost Grit and Sarge Soap—alongside two deodorants known as Ghost Sticc and Sarge Sticc. Each item showcases branding from CoD as well as illustrations reminiscent of the beloved characters. Additionally, within each soap box lies a unique code that unlocks a Dr. Squatch-themed CoD player card, adding a collectible aspect to the purchase.
Visually, the soaps are quite appealing—Ghost Grit presents a striking black and white marbled design, while Sarge offers a vibrant blue and yellow combination. However, the most crucial aspect, as any dedicated gamer will tell you, lies in the scent.
During my shower, I used a silicone loofah to lather up with both soaps. The experience felt reminiscent of how Soap MacTavish might manage his own cleanliness post-mission—albeit I questioned whether the character would actually indulge in such luxuries. Nonetheless, the fragrances from the soaps filled my bathroom, proving to be quite pleasant. The ingredient list boasts a variety of components, such as saponified oils, shea butter, and essential oils, which contribute to an enjoyable aroma. Personally, I found Ghost Grit to be my favorite, but both soaps left me smelling victorious.
However, users should not expect these soaps to grant them in-game success. Based on my experience, they do not translate to actual advantages while playing—something many gamers, myself included, have noticed over the past few years.
After my refreshing shower, I eagerly jumped into online gaming sessions, exploring Black Ops 6, Warzone, and BO6 Zombies. Despite feeling refreshed, I quickly fell victim to the dominance of younger players, highlighting the competitive edge that many have. Often, I can pull off a substantial game, racking up kills, but then I find myself outmatched by younger, more skilled players as they dominate the battlefield.
The current atmosphere in CoD is distinctly competitive, demanding agility and skill that seems out of reach for those of us who grew up gaming. The game’s intricate mechanics, coupled with skill-based matchmaking, can be daunting for older players trying to keep pace with a new generation of gamers. I sometimes wish there were a ‘soap-based matchmaking’ system, correlating fragrance with skill to provide a fairer playing environment.
On a more positive note, my experience with the Dr. Squatch products left me odor-free, a welcome outcome after extensive gaming sessions and workouts. Even following intense exercise, the combination of Sarge Sticc and Ghost Sticc deodorants kept me smelling fresh—a true benefit for anyone indulging in prolonged gaming hours.
However, the question of value arises: Is this limited edition set worth $50? Unfortunately, I would argue that it is not. While the novelty factor is entertaining, players could find equally effective products for a fraction of the price. Additionally, the player card feels like an underwhelming bonus in comparison to the overall cost.
