Drew Basile Eyes Return to Survivor After Jeopardy! Success
Drew Basile is back on the legendary Alex Trebek Stage as part of the latest Jeopardy! Tournament of Champions, and his experience there has fueled his desire for a second chance on Survivor.
A former contestant on Survivor Season 45, where he secured a sixth-place finish, Basile is eager to throw his hat in the ring for the iconic series’ upcoming 50th season. He expressed to Entertainment Weekly that he believes he could be a strong candidate. “I haven’t received any official word, but I feel I would be a valuable addition,” he stated confidently.
Returning to Jeopardy! has bolstered Basile’s confidence regarding his potential for Survivor. “I bring a different mindset compared to many contestants,” he shared. “I’m not hesitant to play tough. While there are plenty of skilled communicators on the show, I see strategic language as a powerful tool. The right answer in Jeopardy! won me $100,000, and I’m convinced I can use my words effectively to come out on top in Survivor as well.”
Basile, who made history as the first Survivor contestant to appear on Jeopardy!, launched a remarkable eight-game win streak last June, amassing $129,601 in earnings. He returned to compete in the 2025 Jeopardy! Tournament of Champions but faced elimination in the semifinals.
At just 24, this master’s student regards both Jeopardy! and Survivor as premier examples of competitive television. He expressed interest in potentially participating in Jeopardy! again, saying, “Some players approach it as a profession, investing time into studying and practicing extensively. If I were to advance to something like the Jeopardy! Invitational, I would adopt a similar intensive approach. I’ve started exploring ways to improve my skills through tools like flashcards and collaborating with others. I’m optimistic that if I return, I’ll come back stronger. Though I didn’t win this time, next time will be different.”
